Practice question from Web Applications and Security (Class 10 · CBSE Information Technology (402)), with the correct answer and a step-by-step solution.
medium · Subjective · Q-4C8F93
Explain the difference between synchronous and asynchronous communication with one suitable example for each.
Answer: Synchronous communication happens in real-time where both parties are present simultaneously, such as a video call or instant messaging. Asynchronous communication does not require the participants to be live at the same time; a sender transmits a message and the receiver reads and replies later, such as email or forum posting.
Solution
Students should clearly distinguish based on real-time presence and provide valid examples like chat/video calls for synchronous and email/discussion boards for asynchronous.
