  1. A.sqrt(4)
  2. B.3.1416
  3. C.1.232323...
  4. D.sqrt(5)Correct answer

Solution

An irrational number is a number that cannot be written in the form p/qp/q, where pp and qq are integers and q≠0q \neq 0. Its decimal expansion is non-terminating and non-recurring. Here, 4=2\sqrt{4} = 2 (rational), 3.14163.1416 is terminating (rational), and 1.232323...=1.23‾1.232323... = 1.\overline{23} is non-terminating recurring (rational). Therefore, 5\sqrt{5} is irrational.
