State one suitable use each of a bar diagram, a histogram, and a pie diagram in presenting economic data.
Answer: A bar diagram is suitable for comparing discrete categories, such as the number of workers in different occupations. A histogram is suitable for showing the frequency distribution of continuous data, such as the income groups of households. A pie diagram is suitable for showing how a total is divided into component shares, such as the percentage distribution of a family's expenditure.
Solution
Bar diagrams compare separate categories, histograms display continuous frequency distributions, and pie diagrams show the proportional composition of a whole.
