easy · Subjective · Q-BFAFD9
Distinguish between horizontal and vertical power-sharing.
Answer: Horizontal power-sharing distributes power among different organs of government, such as the legislature, executive and judiciary, so that no organ can exercise unlimited authority. Vertical power-sharing distributes power among different levels of government, such as the central, state and local governments.
Solution
Horizontal power-sharing involves organs at the same level, whereas vertical power-sharing involves different levels of government. These arrangements prevent concentration of power and promote checks and balances.
