Which of the following pairs will give displacement reactions when iron sulphate solution is added?
Practice question from Metals and Non-metals (Class 10 · CBSE Science), with the correct answer and a step-by-step solution.
medium · MCQ · Q-DBEEA4
Which of the following pairs will give displacement reactions when iron sulphate solution is added?
- A.Zinc metal and iron(II) sulphate solution
- B.Magnesium metal and iron(II) sulphate solution
- C.Copper metal and iron(II) sulphate solution
- D.Both A and BCorrect answer
Solution
Zinc and magnesium are both more reactive than iron (higher in the reactivity series). Therefore, both can displace iron from iron(II) sulphate solution. Copper is less reactive than iron and cannot displace it.
