Practice question from Geography: Manufacturing Industries (Class 10 · CBSE Social Science), with the correct answer and a step-by-step solution.
medium · Subjective · Q-97FAFE
Explain why industries tend to cluster together in particular regions. Give two advantages of industrial agglomeration.
Answer: Industries tend to cluster where raw materials, labour, power, transport, markets and financial services are easily available. Industrial agglomeration allows firms to share infrastructure and services, while workers with specialised skills and supporting industries become available nearby. This can reduce production costs and improve efficiency.
Solution
Industrial agglomeration develops because industries benefit from locating near common inputs, transport networks, markets and skilled labour. Shared facilities and supporting industries lower costs and increase productivity.
