Practice question from Geography: Minerals and Energy Resources (Class 10 · CBSE Social Science), with the correct answer and a step-by-step solution.
hard · Subjective · Q-B5745C
Explain any three ways in which mineral conservation can be achieved.
Answer: Mineral conservation can be achieved by using minerals in a planned and sustainable manner, reducing wastage during mining and processing, and recycling metals. Substituting scarce minerals with renewable or more abundant materials can also reduce pressure on mineral reserves. Improved technology should be used to extract low-grade ores efficiently while causing less environmental damage.
Solution
Mineral conservation requires efficient use, reduced wastage, recycling and substitution. Better technology can increase recovery from ores and reduce the environmental effects of mining.
