hard · Subjective · Q-D46B78
Explain any two ways in which the creation of linguistic states strengthened Indian federalism. (3 marks)
Answer: Linguistic states allowed people speaking the same language to administer their region through a government that could better understand their needs. This recognised regional identities instead of suppressing them and reduced demands for separation. It also made the federal system more acceptable by combining national unity with cultural diversity.
Solution
The reorganisation of states on linguistic lines accommodated regional identities within the constitutional framework. Rather than weakening India, it reduced conflict and increased public acceptance of the Union.
