Suggest any three reforms that can strengthen political parties in India.
Answer: Political parties should maintain organisational elections and keep their membership records transparent. Candidates should declare their criminal cases, assets and educational qualifications, and parties should provide greater opportunities to women and ordinary members. Political parties should also receive transparent and regulated financial support so that the influence of money and undisclosed funding is reduced.
Solution
Reforms should promote internal democracy, transparency and wider participation within parties. Disclosure of candidate information and regulation of party finances can make parties more accountable to citizens.
