A quadrilateral ABCD is drawn to circumscribe a circle. If AB = 66 cm, BC = 77 cm, and CD = 44 cm, then the length of AD is:

  1. A.22 cm
  2. B.33 cmCorrect answer
  3. C.44 cm
  4. D.55 cm

Solution

For a circumscribed quadrilateral, the sum of opposite sides are equal, so AB+CD=BC+ADAB + CD = BC + AD. Substituting the given values: 6+4=7+AD6 + 4 = 7 + AD, which gives 10=7+AD10 = 7 + AD, so AD=3AD = 3 cm.
