2. Mechanism
- Protein hormones: membrane receptors, second messenger (cAMP).
- Steroid hormones: intracellular receptors, act on genes.
3. Key Points
- Adrenaline: ‘fight or flight’.
- Insulin lowers blood glucose.
- Heart, kidney, GI tract also make hormones.
- Iodine deficiency causes goitre.
